The first-person shooter zombie survival genre has long since been a staple of video games. Since the dawn of Left 4 Dead in 2008, Turtle Rock Studios has been on a mission to define what makes that gameplay fun. Whether it’s tearing through hoards or shooting your way out, Back 4 Blood is certainly delivering on that experience. With the four-player zombie action returning to its former glory, some are curious about the campaign. While most of the marketing has surrounded the versus mode where players can take on unique zombies to hunt survivors, the campaign features none of that. With the campaign only having four player co-op, solo players are certainly going to feel left out. Restricting many features of play from the solo campaign, players are getting discouraged. Yet, Turtle Rock Studios plans for a future update to provide a fix for Back 4 Blood solo players.

What Does This Mean For Current Back 4 Blood Solo Players?
With the title set to launch in just a few more days, fans have been curious what this means for the longevity of the title. While Turtle Rock’s previous title, Evolve, focused heavily on individual play and mastery; the opposite seems true for Back 4 Blood solo play. While the main appeal of a Zombie FPS is multiplayer, some will certainly want to grind on their own. Restricting not only achievements and stats but also supply points and different card decks harms this greatly. While Turtle Rock Studios’ plan is a good sign, it begs many questions. Such as why implement a solo campaign at all and just sell it as the online-only title it is. The always-online DRM tied to the title makes it seem odd that a solo campaign would have so many restrictions. Despite this, the title launches on October 12 through Xbox Game Pass with PC/Console and PlayStation releases as well.
