Tubi, the completely free AVOD streaming platform courtesy of Fox Entertainment, will be fully integrated into the brand new Playstation 5 console!
This is clearly a shrewd bit of business from Sony. Since Tubi will be fully integrated into Playstation, it will offer branded rows on the homepage. There’s a lot of content on offer, too. The database is always growing, but it currently boasts over 26,000 movies and TV shows; all offered completely free of charge. In this age of streaming services becoming the new normal in terms of how we consume content, the addition of Tubi could be a game-changer for a lot of buyers.
Plans for the future include allowing users to live stream news, weather, and entertainment. So far, Tubi contains content from over 17 FOX stations in major markets, NBC News Now, and Bloomberg.
Andrea Clarke-Hall, Global Head of Business Development at Tubi, had this to say:
So how successful is Tubi right now? In recent weeks we’ve already seen the fall of services such as Quibi. It seems with this partnership, Tubi won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The integration with Playstation 5 only makes things more positive. Fox paid $440 million for Tubi in April. The streaming service has since gained a healthy 33 million monthly active users.
If you’re more of an Xbox person, or you simply don’t care much for the new Playstation, the service may still be of interest. The service will still be available — for free — on most popular platforms including Android, IOS, and Xbox.
