Developer Frozenbyte released some new gameplay footage of Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince alongside the release date of the game. Trine 4 is set to release October 8, 2019, on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game is set back in the beautiful picturesque environments the fans of the series have come to love. This time around Frozenbyte has come up with a different way to play the game. Originally as a 2D side scroller for the PC, Trine 4 will be 2.5D. The last installment of the series went fully 3D, which led to some players saying screwed up the controls of the game. This time around the game is a 2d side scroller with a little more to it thanks to the .5D. This time the developer Frozenbyte is promising to bring back the 2D aspect with more challenging areas, foes, and an amazing story to round it all out. The game brings a new soundtrack to uplift some of the more beautiful, green areas and to make more moments more intense.
The storytelling in Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince will make you want to unravel more and more with each playthrough. The story has you and your companions following the tale of a haunted prince, uncovering more about the prince as you play. The plot is filled with friends and foes throughout the beautiful landscape. To defeat these foes, the team at Frozenbyte developed a new combat system for players to try out and see which skills and moves work best for them. The game has skill trees available for the growth of your character in the game as well. As you level up you’ll be able to get more useful skills and abilities to continue down the path of the prince.
