Rise of the MCU Superfan

For The Nerd Stash’s Trend of the Weekend, there’s been a popular tweet from a superfan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

YouTuber and super geek Tony Goldmark has taken full advantage of the quarantine situation with a grand experiment of his own. After many weeks on indoor isolation because of the pandemic, Goldmark took the patient time of listing all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s scenes from the movies that have dominated the box office in recent memory.

Well nerds, I fuckin’ did it.

Took me a global pandemic and a damn quarantine, but I did it.

I figured out the precise chronological order of all the MCU movies (so far) BY SCENE.

I’m out of my Goddamn mind. You’re welcome. pic.twitter.com/3VXjqk4kjQ

His tweet simply reads, “Well nerds, I f*****’ did it. I figured out the precise chronological order of all the MCU movies (so far) BY SCENE.” His dedication is displayed through a numbered list of scenes that the Universe has progressed through time. The scenes are numbered 1-87, that all include current films that are accessible to the audience at the moment. This means that projects that are in development or are scheduled for release won’t be accounted for, since the events and main narrative of Black Widow are yet to be experienced.

Figuring out the correct order of the MCU tales can be a daunting task to commit to, since the timelines seem to be confused among the many creative minds who have contributed their efforts and geniuses to establish a huge cinematic universe. Along the line, some continuity can be lost along the way, such as the case with Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s opening sequence where confusion was spilled due to the film’s connection with The Avengers (2012); the time lapse of the years in-between the movies’ events has been up for debate for those who are trying to keep track of the overall MCU timeline.

Goldmark’s efforts are well-met, though. It’s evident that he spent some careful time watching and researching the general MCU narrative and beyond, and we can only applaud him for taking on such a complicated task that many of us nerds might not haven’t thought of taking on.
