Transient is a new cyberpunk-horror title by Stormling Studios. Heavily inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, the game combines Lovecraftian themes against the backdrop of a cyberpunk world. While the idea may inspire one’s imagination, they may only be scratching the surface. Transient may be much more than they anticipated.

The Worlds of Transient

You play as a man named Randolph Carter. As a member of the hacker-for-hire group ODIN, Carter is no stranger to the dangers that exist. But during one of his typically routine hacker jobs, he finds something he didn’t think he would. Will his sanity remain intact as he digs deeper into this mystery? What does this mean for his own existence?

Humankind is small in number after a major cataclysm. The ones who survived live in Domed City Providence. This is where Transient begins the story of Randolph Carter. Despite the city being where his story starts, it isn’t the only place Carter will explore. In addition to the last bastion of humanity, there are other realities to explore. Traverse the virtual world, encountering several interesting characters. Or explore your own dreams, seeing what your mind may have locked away.

Randolph Carter has one tool up his sleeve though, the PHI. The PHI (perception heightening implant) is what allows the hacker to work his ‘magic.’. Transient bestows this power on you, allowing various uses. Investigate your surroundings and search for clues before abandoning your search and spot things others would normally miss. Hack through barriers and bypass computer-locked doors with ease, drawing you closer to the truth.
