The Total War: Warhammer franchise has truly cemented itself as one of the greatest strategy titles out there, especially given its absolutely titanic scale across massive maps. While it admittedly takes a lot more to play than I’m willing to put into any game, watching people play it fascinates me as they command massive armies at a whim and take on strong opponents. With a lot for strategy fans to love about Warhammer II, the excitement for Total War: Warhammer III is currently through the roof. Unfortunately, it seems those excited will have to wait just a little while longer. Total War: Warhammer III has officially been delayed until early 2022, as initially revealed in a Twitter post on the series’ Twitter account.
Total War: WARHAMMER III will now release in early 2022.
We know this is disappointing, but the extra time means we can accomplish more than we could if we rushed to release this year.
We won’t be staying quiet however, join us tomorrow for the global reveal of Grand Cathay… pic.twitter.com/R4GdObAs9P

The team cites the reason for the delay being behind wanting to ensure Warhammer III’s quality leading up to the launch. In its current state, if the team were to keep with the original release date, many things would have to be rushed out and would result in a much worse product. As such, this delay to early 2022 gives the team some much-needed time to ensure the game is up to par. And given how things have gone in the past, you can’t really blame them. Things should have the time to cook that they need, not to even mention the extreme crunch that would likely be needed from the development team to reach those goals.
But with that being said, it seems the team won’t be staying quiet. Alongside the global reveal of Grand Cathay tomorrow, there will be plenty of details leading up to the game’s launch. So while unfortunate news, this isn’t all bad.
