While decimating your enemy and taking their land is a great goal to have in Total War Three Kingdoms, you also need to focus on increasing your leader’s overall prestige. You’re going to need this prestige to climb up the political ladder in China, and without it, none of the other factions is going to take you seriously as a reliable power in the country. Here are the best ways to increase your prestige and climb the ranks to achieve the honor of becoming the Emperor.
Total War Three Kingdoms Leader Prestige
What Does Prestige Do?
Prestige shows how much political power your faction has in the country, and how seriously other factions take your leader. The higher up the ladder you go, the stronger of influence you have, along with additional bonuses that benefit you. These bonuses vary from increasing the number of spies you can have at one time, to how many assignment slots you can have available, and how many trade agreements you can start with other factions.
The higher up the prestige tree you go, the more influence you have to make things happen. As your power expands, you’re going to find yourself needing advisors to call on to help guide your efforts and keep things in check. You’ll find more of your generals are going to take personal leadership roles in your government. Additionally, giving a disgruntled general a new position may help quell their thoughts of betraying you.
How Do You Gain Prestige?
The quickest and easiest way to gain prestige is to acquire other pieces of territory. What this means is you’re going to have your faction always at war with your neighbors. The more people you fight, and then take their settlements, the more prestige your faction leader receives. You’ll expand your influence through a show of force.
However, taking over settlements and conquering factions is not the only way to expand your prestige. You can also do so through unique buildings you can construct later in your campaign. You’ll find these buildings in the reform page, where you can review the reforms you get to enact every five turns. The one you’re looking for is on the far right of the tree, labeled under “Eunuch Secretaries.” You’ll want to expand up to this tree, which unlocks additional administrator buildings and administration slots for your faction’s council. When you focus on this tree, you’ll find your prestige building far faster than if you purely focused on war.
