If you’re a fan of the hack’n’ slash dungeon crawler Torchlight II, then I have good news. Today you can officially pre-order the upcoming console release of this now-classic PC game. I’m pretty excited by this myself, as I played a ton of Torchlight II back when first released on Steam in 2012. It was billed as a successor to Diablo II at a time when Diablo III was considered by many to be a steaming pile of garbage. And it had fishing. All games need fishing. And pets. Who needs followers when you can have a dog or cat to hang out with? You can see the PlayStation 4 trailer from E3 below:
Speaking of pets, that’s one of the new additions to these versions on Torchlight II, new pets. Those who pre-order will get the exclusive goblin pet “yapper”. While each console version will have its own specific new pet. Xbox One players get a Molten Imp. While PlayStation 4 people get a Faerie. Other new additions include enhanced controls and a new and improved user interface. Also on the list is achievement and trophy support and 4 player co-op via online play. Other new surprises could be revealed ahead of the game’s September release. Also missing are details on Torchlight II‘s Switch version. This release only covered the Xbox One and PS4 editions. So we will update you on that when we receive more information.
The only thing that it seems to be lacking is local co-op. A feature that has made Diablo III one of the most played console games at my house. There’s nothing quite like hanging out on the couch with your friends or significant other and slaughter hordes of enemies while collecting sweet loot. But even without it, Torchlight II is an amazing game that you should absolutely experience if you haven’t.
