Playing an RPG with a certain build in mind, but realizing halfway through the game, that this build isn’t actually any fun or you went in a different direction than what you originally intended to do is a common issue. Well, luckily, in most RPGs, there is a respec option, which allows you to rebuild your character, and there is such an option in Torchlight 3. Here’s a guide in how to respec in Torchlight 3!

How to use Respectacles

Respeccing in Torchlight 3 is actually harder to do so than other RPGs, but after progress is made in the game and you unlock your Fort, this is when respeccing becomes as easy as killing a low-level enemy!

However, before you can begin respeccing, you need to unlock something called Respectacles Points. If you press S and go into the Skills menu, if you have any, it will show you how many you have underneath your Skills. Now, Respectacles can also be gained from item usage, more so after Level 5 from killing bosses, and certain quests offer this consumable item as a reward. One Respectacles consumable is one Respectacles Point.

Once you’ve procured your Fort, which is pretty early on if you are focusing on the main story progress. When customizing your Fort, under the Functional tab, there are 4 different Skill Stations available. They are 4 different classes in the game, so whatever class you are, you have to use the Skill Station that benefits your class.

  • Arcanum - The Dusk Mage uses this station to respec. Arms Cart - Sharpshooters respec at this station. Automation Shop - The Forged Class respecs here. Workshop - The Railmaster respecs at this place.

Once one of these stations is placed in your Fort, you can interact with it by just left-clicking on it; however, this will only work with the relevant class. You can’t click on an Arms Cart if you’re a Railmaster class.

Then after you’ve interacted with it, just right-click the skill you want to be refunded. However, this is instantaneous. No confirmation box occurs to ask if you’re happy to proceed. It just happens, so the best advice we can offer is to save before you do this as mistakes can happen!
