Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, the gravity-defying skate series, makes a comeback as 90’s kids across the world spit a bottle of Surge on their computer screens.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 is a singular game set to come out Sept. 4th, 2020. The title will have remastered versions of both classic titles including, Create-A-Park, online multiplayer and local co-op support.
There are returning legends such as Chad Muska, Rodney Mullen, and Kareem Campbell among many more. They will all be shredding the classic maps in 4k resolution at 60FPS on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The franchise has some of the highest video game Metacritc of all time This remaster will be using the original developer’s code as a base to nail what shipped millions of copies worldwide. Check out the trailer below
The game is developed by Vicarious Visions, a studio that helped make the original games with Neversoft. On top of being responsible for the ports featuring original content for PlayStation, they made the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a game that gained positive reception from critics and fans alike.
“The challenge of a faithful remaster is knowing where to push the boundaries, and what to keep sacred,” he says. “It’s important to capture the original experience.” The goal, he explains, was to “make it feel like a game meant for 2020.” said Vicarious Visions COO Simon Ebejer.

Tony Hawk became annualized similar to Guitar Hero, making it difficult for Neversoft to innovate. They eventually got folded into supporting Call of Duty DLC content. The series went dominant after Project 8, until new hands got on it.
The 2012 remake developed by Robomodo was not well received due to the different wonky physics and missing iconic songs along with other issues. Then, they went on to create Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, a title so unfinished that a majority wasn’t on the disc.
The license then lapsed at the end of 2015 and the series went silent with it. Tony went on to make mobile skate games with other studios. It wasn’t until recent rumblings of a new game surfaced (from himself) that we got a revealing tweet from Birdman.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remaster will be $39.99 when it lands this fall. The deluxe edition comes with retro outfits for the skaters and content for Create-A-Skater mode. Physical pre-order bonuses will include a Tony Hawk mini fingerboard besides early access to the Warehouse demo.
