Ever since Tom Welling was announced to reprise his role as Clark Kent in the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, Smallville fans have been excited to see it on-screen.

After all, why wouldn’t they? Many watched the show obsessively from week-to-week, even into its ‘Friday death slot’ in later seasons. They are a dedicated bunch.

A lot of hype has surrounded the chance to see what the Clark Kent of Smallville has been up to the past ten years.

But alas, according to a recent Twitter revelation, it appears Tom Welling only filmed one scene for the much-anticipated Arrowverse crossover.

But where did this information come from? Well, according to Twitter user Siu Jerk Jai, from the mouth of Welling himself. The fan met Welling at Wizard World in Austin, Texas and claimed that the actor told him that he shot one scene over the course of one day.

While the length of Smallville Clark Kent’s time on the crossover has never been discussed, it may perhaps not be as long as some were thinking or hoping.

That said, Crisis on Infinite Earths is set to boast many special appearances from heroes across DC television. From Brandon Routh as Kingdom Come Superman to even Huntress from the short-lived Birds of Prey TV series, the crossover will be crammed with goodies. Understandably, due to the crossover taking place over five episodes, and having so many characters to cater for, some were destined to have smaller roles than others.

It just so happens that the Clark Kent from Smallville was a role destined to be small for this event. Only time will tell whether he will return again in DC’s Arrowverse.

Smallville ran for ten seasons, from 2001 to 2011. Often thought of as the show that gave birth to modern-day superhero television, it won a number of awards and won a dedicated following.
