Concept art for the secretive Tom and Jerry Movie adaptation has been revealed. The live action/Animation hybrid feature film will be a first for the cat and mouse team. Directed by Tim Story, this will be the first time the iconic pair have been seen on the big screen since 1992.

The image above was tweeted out by SuperBrosMovies’ Daniel Richtman. Little is known about the upcoming feature other than it will be live action similar to 1996’s Space Jam. Although the concept art show’s Jennifer Lawrence posing with the dynamic duo, she is in no way attached to the movie. It confirms they will have a female lead, but as of now, Lawrence would be a pipe dream.
Tom and Jerry are iconic characters who were first given life in 1940 by Willam Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The often violent and sometimes offensive pair was a smash hit, with 114 shorts created in the span of 18 years. It will be interesting to see how a modern version of the pair is handled. Adults who grew up watching the old shorts will be watching closely to see how things have changed. The new feature will have to balance the old slapstick stylings with a more respectful and inclusive tone.
Other than director Tim Story, little else is known about who may be involved in the movie. Like Alvin and the Chipmunks before it, a live-action/animated hybrid feature cold breath new life into the property. Kids today might not be familiar with the duo, but a new feature could change all that.
