Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, the crossover game between Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei, is being ported to the Nintendo Switch.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE initially released on the Wii U in 2015. The game had some controversy due to its extreme anime aesthetic, and the fact that it appeared to be more of a crossover between Fire Emblem and Persona, rather than Shin Megami Tensei. However, the game still received positive reviews from gaming critics and has developed a fan following.

The game didn’t do well financially, possibly because the Wii U was a very underperforming console. In today’s Nintendo Direct, it came out that Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore, a port of the original game, is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore is an RPG game that borrows elements from Fire Emblem, and Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei franchise. In Sessions ♯FE, you star as a group of teens in Tokyo, Japan. You bond with beings from another universe called Mirages, who are all based on characters from the Fire Emblem franchise. The main characters can merge with their mirages to become Mirage Masters, giving the teens new outfits and extraordinary abilities. You can even summon Mirages during the middle of battle.

You work for a talent agency, and several members of the playable casts are part of the entertainment industry. The main characters include a superstar model and a wannabe action star.

Encore is expected to include a brand new song and original Fire Emblem Mirages that can appear on the battlefield.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore is slated to release on January 17, 2020.
