Earlier this month, the full schedule for the Tokyo Game Show 2021 was released, revealing a bevy of upcoming live streams that will broadcast live from the Tokyo Game Show official YouTube channel, September 29 to October 2. The event will be all-digital, highlighting some of the industry’s biggest names, including Square Enix, Konami, Capcom, Sega/Atlas, Ubisoft, and Microsoft. Set your alarms, however, because the highlight of the weekend for many, the Japan Game Awards, is set to begin Saturday, October 2 at 2 AM PT (5 AM ET).
Since the Japan Game Awards began celebrating their Global Award in 2011-12, a Call of Duty title has taken home the award a staggering six out of nine times, with the outliers being Grand Theft Auto V (2014), FIFA 17 (2017), and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2019). If history has anything to say, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War could be running away with the title yet again.
The Tokyo Game Show official YouTube channel will also broadcast two livestreams of the Japan Game Awards 2021 that have respective air dates of Friday, October 1 at 8:30 PM PT (11:30 PM ET), and Saturday, October 2 at 9 PM PT (12 AM ET), but both of these streams will air in Japanese only.
