TOHU, a lovely puzzle adventure game, just received a reveal trailer at EGX Digital. Fireart Games (Spirit Roots) are developing the title while The Irregular Corporation (Murder By Numbers) is publishing. In addition to the beautiful hand-drawn art style, the game features a score from composer Christoper Larkin (Hollow Knight). You can check out the reveal trailer, which includes a gameplay walkthrough of an early puzzle, below.
What to Expect From TOHU
TOHU follows The Girl who lives among a series of fish planets. But the arrival of a shadowy figure disrupts her peaceful world. Seeking only to cause chaos, the villain destroys the sacred engine that is key to the world’s survival. It is up to The Girl to bring peace back to her home. However, her robotic alter ego Cubus can step in to do any heavy lifting. They each have abilities that can be used to solve a variety of puzzles.
TOHU promises plenty of quirkiness and eccentricity from its intricate puzzles to its engaging characters. One such puzzle takes place early on and is showcased in the trailer. It involves catching fireflies as Cubus before dispensing different colored moles from a gumball machine as the girl. Along her journey, the girl will cross the paths of other citizens. These include Juncle, a robot friend and former caregiver of the girl, and a scholarly merchant who lives in a bathtub.
Even the worlds of TOHU will bring the game’s signature charm. Each offers lovingly-crafted designs blended with strange scenarios. One world will feature a theatrical production made up of odd creatures while another topsy-turvy environment will defy physics.
While TOHU doesn’t have a release date, it does have an Autumn 2020 release window and is available to wishlist on Steam right now. It will also release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
