Todd And Julie Chrisley Hopeful For Better Sentencing

The celebrity couple is determined to fight their convictions and get a better verdict, Page Six reports. The duo vowed to appeal the decision a day after their combined 19-year sentencing for financial crimes.

A Todd and Julie Chrisley appeal may give rise to favorable outcomes according to their attorney’s position. The duo’s attorney, Alex Little, told People on Tuesday, November 22:

Alex’s claim that serious and repeated errors marred the trial made Todd and Julie hopeful of a favorable verdict. The attorney also accused the government of lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid.

Todd was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for bank fraud and tax evasion. Julie was sentenced to seven years for her participation in the crimes. The duo bagged an additional 16 months of probation each in addition.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars were found guilty of multiple charges in June after being indicted in August 2019. Subsequently, their reality show and spinoff series were canceled after their sentencing.

A sentencing memorandum written last week by prosecutors accused the Chrisleys of building an empire on lies. The document claimed that the Chrisleys lied about their wealth coming from dedication and hard work.

Nevertheless, Todd and Julie maintained their innocence throughout the case. Initially, the pair sought less than the recommended jail time but received way more than what they asked for. However, it was far less than what prosecutors wanted.

Todd and Julie had also filed a joint motion for a new trial because a witness allegedly “lied” during their spring trial, which the court denied on October 28. So hopefully, the truth will be fully unearthed, and justice served for the Chrisley Knows Best stars.
