Undertale Developer Toby Fox has revealed that he has composed an original music track for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield at the request of Nintendo.
Toby Fox has proved himself to be a talented game designer and developer with both Undertale and Deltarune, but what may be more well known about the man is his skill in composing video game music. Countless people who have never played his games have heard his music, from the epic boss theme Megalovania to the jaunty and eerie Ghost Fight, to the dynamic and jamming ballad of ego that is Death By Glamour. These two entities coming together is quite exciting for fans of both. Pokemon as a franchise has been renowned for it’s catchy, memorable, sometimes epic music for many years. The themes for different routes across the different regions have been remixed countless times, many of the different theme songs for the anime adaptation have become classics to many fans, and certain tracks have even lead to internet legends; the reach of the franchise is massive.
Toby Fox, on the other hand, started from nothing as an independent developer and spun from his efforts a brand new, massive franchise of a game. Undertale started as a Kickstarter for a dinky little RPG made in Game Maker Studio, which became an unparalleled indie game success. The game has now sold millions of copies, had its characters featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Toby Fox also composed music for the Nintendo title Little Town Hero. Having Toby Fox compose for Pokemon is probably a really big deal for him, but it might be just as big of a deal for Pokemon.
