To the delight of all Spider-Man fans, Netflix announced via Twitter that the original Spider-Man trilogy featuring Tobey Maguire will make its way onto the streaming service on August 1st. Sam Raimi’s trilogy is still heralded as the best iteration of Spider-Man on the big screen. With its debut on Netflix, fans of the recent Spider-Man series starring Tom Holland will get a taste of what made the first outing of the web-slinger so iconic.
Netflix announced the return of Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire via a hilarious tweet that further cements the fact that the original movies are also an incredible treasure trove of memes.

To be clear, not all three movies hold up as well as one might expect. With the third one easily being the worst of the bunch. Even so, there is still more than enough enjoyment to be had, whether you’re reliving the best parts of the originals or are going back to watch the older movies after Tobey Maguire’s surprise cameo in No Way Home.
This means that except for The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield, all other Spider-Man movies can now be found in one place, including the most recent Far From Home and No Way Home.
Netflix’s Situation
Netflix reported that it lost over one million subscribers in the last quarter. And that too after an already massive drop of 200,000 subscribers in Q1. Even with the runaway success of Stranger Things season 4, Netflix hasn’t been able to cope with the deteriorating viewer base.
Netflix’s CFO Spence Newman stated that this considerable drop was not only foreseen but was actually better than expected since they had originally expected a drop of about two million. They plan on gaining back the dwindling subscribers soon, with Netflix’s vice president Matthew Thunell saying in a report by Reuters that Netflix needs its own Star Wars and its own Harry Potter.
If Netflix’s plans come to pass, the future might be bright for the company as it might introduce brand new IPs.
