Since Hearthstone Mercenaries goes the farthest from traditional Hearthstone, it can seem intimidating. You’ll see why Hearthstone added the mode and how to make it better with a little help.
Hearthstone Mercenaries Tips
Pay attention to the tutorial
You can easily lose focus when you’re told how to play the game, but it would be a mistake to do so. A few messages and a walkthrough of the first mission of your mercenaries make up the mini-tutorial. But the real tutorial is all the time you spend filling in your hub. The pieces of your hub will be filled in and explained to you as they are set up. You must pay attention to these points because they are all crucial when you get into PvP, which is the main objective of Mercenaries.
Have a bigger plan than just the next enemy
It may seem from the outside that the game is just about waiting for your turn to attack, but you need a strategy. Make sure you take out the strongest enemy first and use area-of-effect abilities to finish off low-HP enemies. Spend more time thinking about the overall battle rather than just one or two phases. It takes more than a handful of Bounties to get this right, so actively try to think through your battles.
Try PvP on top of Bounties
Even though Bounties are an important part of Hearthstone Mercenaries, PvP is the main goal. It can be tempting to ignore PvP since the main game focuses so much on PvE, but once you start doing PvP, you’ll realize just how much more fun you can have. PvP provides far more rewards and experience, and you will go through your Bounties very quickly if you play for a few days.
The Fighting Pit is PvP, even if it doesn’t seem like it
Upon entering the Fighting Pit, you will notice that the enemy is a bot instead of a real player. Although you may think that this isn’t PvP, it’s normal to start this way. To find out who you can compete against, the game must test your skills. Even if they’re lengthy fights, get through them, and expect to face a bot at least three times before facing a human.
Claim your task rewards
Task rewards are easy to ignore because they take time to claim, and the game doesn’t really show you how to do it quickly. Go to your campfire in the main hub and scroll all the way down. You’ll find your reward there.
