New TV spots for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore have been released, and two of them finally feature an appearance from Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterson), who has been mysteriously missing from the trailers, character posters, and the behind-the-scenes promo for the upcoming film. Wizarding World fans have been wondering for months (since the first trailer’s release) why Tina hasn’t been present in the movie’s marketing campaign. In spite of the fact that Waterson has been confirmed to be reprising the character, fans have been confused as to why the character has been absent until now. Regardless, Waterson does make appearances in these TV spots, albeit only brief moments with no dialogue.

This TV Spot shows a picture of Tina in Newt’s suitcase at the 0:38 mark:

Where Has Tina Goldstein Been in Fantastic Beasts 3?

Tina’s absence up until this point has been causing much speculation. Digital Spy has theorized that Waterson may have had scheduling conflicts that made her role less substantial in this film. Another possibility is that Tina cannot fully commit to being part of Dumbledore’s army when her sister Queenie (Alison Sudol) is fighting for the other side. Perhaps both of these are true, and the storyline was worked in as a compromise for Waterson’s tight schedule.

The Secrets of Dumbledore Revealed

Tina Goldstein’s appearance isn’t the only big part of these new TV spots. In the TV spot below, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) is having a conversation with Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen), who is frustrated with Dumbledore, who abandoned the cause they both shared to “reshape the world.” Dumbledore confesses to Grindelwald the reason he was part of that cause, saying, “Because I was in love with you.” Watch below:

Of course, this does not come as a shock to long-time Harry Potter fans. In 2007, J.K. Rowling revealed that she always saw the beloved Hogwarts headmaster as a gay character. In an extra feature on the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald blu-ray, she revealed that the two men had an “intense” and “passionate” relationship with a “sexual dimension.” Dumbledore’s sexuality was bound to be explored at some point in the Fantastic Beasts series.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be out on April 15.
