TikTok is rolling out a new feature. And it is none other than a Snapchat Stories-like feature known as TikTok Stories. TikTok Stories will offer content creators “a new way to interact” with their viewers.

Matt Navarra, a social media expert, was one of the first people to learn about the feature. He explains that users can share TikTok Stories with a new content creation feature. And then, they can post it with the “share to story” button. Currently, TikTok Stories is in a pilot phase. And it is only available to a select few TikTok users outside America. But hopefully, it’ll fully go public soon. TikTok gave a gist of the new feature in an email to The Verge:

“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Currently, we’re experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.”

TikTok’s Rise To Fame

Social media became everyone’s favorite activity during the early days of the pandemic. Many people chose to pass the time filming their creativity. And in no time, the internet was set alight with a plethora of seconds-long viral videos.

As a result, TikTok’s report changed from a little-known app to a household name overnight. Within months, more than 800 million new users had signed up to create and view lip-sync and dance videos.

TikTok Stories: The Clone

Social media companies have a culture of cloning one another’s products. But arguably, the most cloned product is Snap’s ultra-popular disappearing content feature: Stories. Instagram introduced Instagram Stories (which became an instant hit). Facebook launched Facebook Stories. LinkedIn also rolled out its own version. Even Twitter gave it a try in Fleets. And now TikTok is also taking a shot at the feature.

However, feature clones don’t always meet expectations. Sometimes they win users over, other times, not so much. So, it remains to be seen if the new TikTok Stories feature will actually work.
