Studio Sunrise has announced three new Gundam anime projects connected to the main franchise story. The new projects include a new series of TV specials and will condense and recap the Mobile Suit Gundam anime story of Iron-Blood Orphans. The once fifty-episode original will be condensed into nine episodes. This will air in the spring of 2022.

Studio Sunrise made another announcement at this event. The new specials will connect the series to its upcoming spinoff. Uror Hunt is created by the same staff that developed the original Iron-Blood Orphans. This includes the original director Tatsuyuki Nagai. The spinoff takes place during the main series’ story but follows a conflict on Venus. Uror Hunt is a combination of anime and the game. The future details will be detailed on an upcoming app. So far, an international release for Iron-Blood Orphans and the Uror Hunt app has not been announced.
New movie, “Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island” to hit theaters in 2022!
Directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the film focuses on episode 15, “Cucuruz Doan’s Island” from “Mobile Suit Gundam” and depicts it from a new angle.

At the same time, Sunrise also revealed an upcoming Gundam movie titled Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doans’s Island. This movie will retell the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime Cucuruz Doan’s Island from another perspective. The title will be releasing in Japanese theatres in 2022.
The final Gundam project announced is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Sunrise is promoting the title as the first new Gundam TV series since Iron-Blooded Orphans seven years ago. Other than the air date being in 2022, no other details are known about the title.
Other Gundam Projects to Know About
These announced projects are a follow-up to the already announced Bandai Gundam project earlier this year. Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway’s producer recently revealed details about the movie’s sequel and its upcoming release date. At the same time, Gundam Breaker Battlogue will premiere in Japan this October on the official Gundam Youtube Channel. For those more inclined towards the manga side of Gundum, the franchise is also currently updating their motion comic, Gundam SEED Eclipse.
