Thor 4, or Thor: Love and Thunder if you want to use its proper long-form title, has been highly anticipated since it was announced. Taiki Waititi took the franchise in a drastic new direction with Thor 3. It has been claimed by many involved that this move saved the franchise. Of course, one thing it was missing was Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster. Waititi has promised Thor 4 will be the best MCU movie ever, and not just because the Guardians of the Galaxy are involved. Jane Foster herself will return and even take up the mantle of the Mighty Thor in Thor 4. Recently, promo artwork for Thor 4 was released that gave us our first look at major characters in action!
What Does Thor 4 Have in Store?
Outside of the promo artwork, not much is known about Thor 4 at the moment. The majority of what we do know is that it includes a colorful cast. Star-Lord, Groot, Nebula, Drax, and Mantis are all on board, although Rocket’s presence has yet to be confirmed. Additionally, Queen Valkyrie of New Asgard is back and involved in some manner. We also have Russell Crowe playing Zeus, and Christian Bale taking his first step into super-villainy as Gorr the God Butcher. Since godly figures are more cosmic in the MCU, these characters may all intertwine somehow.
The more important factor here is Jane Foster’s story arc. Specifically, it involves the Mighty Thor comic book story that sees Foster turn into Thor. A three-year stint of comics had seen Jane take the hammer, Mjolnir, from Thor during a time when he was unworthy. It was originally also used as a way for Jane to fight off cancer. However, these details don’t seem to be the case in the MCU, as both Jane and Thor have weapons and powers of thunder. We may just see an awesome super-powered couple team-up if anything. Whether Foster lasts as the Mighty Thor in the MCU is unclear.
