Another movie-going weekend has passed, which means the box office totals are here. For the most part, the movie rankings remain unchanged in the top 5 at the box office. This weekend’s box office has Avatar still in the top spot in theaters. In its 5th week, Avatar: The Way of Water brought in another $31,118,000 on the domestic market. It now has a domestic box office total of $562,919,358. But, of course, it’s also over $ 1 billion internationally. Holding on to second place at this weekend’s box office is M3GAN.
M3GAN made another $17,910,000, bringing its total to over $56 million. It should be noted that M3GAN had a production budget of only around $12 million. This means that M3GAN recouped more than its budget in its first week and did it again in its second. This is a movie the fans want to see, and there are already talks of a sequel.
Avatar comes from 20th Century Studios, and Universal Pictures is behind M3GAN.
This Weekend’s Box Office Is Largely Unchanged
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish held the number 3 spot at this weekend’s box office. The film made a little over $13 million in its 4th week in theaters. A Man Called Otto is next with over $12.5 million, which is up from last week by almost 200% in its 3rd week. A Man Called Otto stars Tom Hanks.
The one new addition to the top 5 this weekend is Plane, which stars Gerard Butler and Mike Colter. It made a smidge over $10 million this weekend. It comes from Lionsgate. Just outside the top 5 is another new movie. Warner Bros.’ House Party made only $3.8 million. House Party is both a reboot and a remake of the 1990 comedy of the same name. However, bad reviews plague the new version. It currently has a 25% on Rotten Tomatoes.
