The next fighting game coming from NetherRealm Studios will be superhero based combat in Injustice: Gods Among Us. Utilizing the DC comics character and storylines, this new fighting franchise is showing some potential for a number of reasons. The first being that its being built on the already strong backbone engine of Mortal Kombat, which many called the best fighting game of 2011.
NetherRealm released the first batch of screenshots to go alongside the reveal, and should have more information about the upcoming game at E3 2012.
The fighting game is scheduled for a 2013 release date on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U.
