UPDATE: Services have been restored. Steam is currently down seemingly worldwide as gamers are reporting getting signed out of the Valve controlled gaming service. Single player games, at least those without an online verification system, should continue to work. However, multiplayer games will not function without an outside service. Valve is usually quick to fix Steam outages, with the most recent one lasting less than an hour. They do not give info on the problem though, so we are left in the dark on when to expect a fix most of the time....
